#UmbaraLive and Reflections on ‘Clone Wars’

Last night (UK time) I had a most delightful re-watch of the ‘Umbara Arc’ of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars series during the live-tweet fest #UmbaraLive called by the Fan Girls Going Rogue (@FGGoingRogue). Re-watching the arc like this made me spot many things that I originally missed. It felt fresh again. But it also made me think about ‘what Star Wars is’ at the moment … on the cusp of the first ‘Star Wars Story’ film being released. Continue reading “#UmbaraLive and Reflections on ‘Clone Wars’”

Rebels Review: Twilight of the Apprentice

This will be a spoilerish review of the fantastic season 2 finale Twilight of the Apprentice. It has seen the end of beloved characters, brought severe consequences for other beloved characters and implications that will stretch far into Season 3 and beyond. The prequels have exploded onto the Rebels scene!

Rebels Review #2.16: Shroud of Darkness

You may have noticed that we didn’t review Episode #2.16 so far. Shroud of Darkness is a remarkable episode with huge foreshadowing of tonight’s season 2 finale. I will review it now but with a look forward, speculating on what we will see tonight. A finale that may be the most profound Canon story since … Revenge of the Sith. Rebels Review #2.14-#2.15: The Power of Family

These two Rebels episodes also have connective tissue. Because in a gripping way they showed us the ‘power of family’, both the good as well as the bad of it. This to, in my view, as a lead up towards the season’s finale this week. Continue reading “Rebels Review #2.14-#2.15: The Power of Family”

Rebels Review #2.12-#2.13: Ezra & The Force

These two episodes contained a common thread. Even though they were each highlighting backstory elements of one of the Ghost crew’s characters they were also episodes in which Ezra was exposed to a larger universe of The Force beyond what he had seen. They were episodes which increasingly dealt with Ezra’s ability to lead and with the relationship between him and Kanan. The beautiful thing however was that these developments were kept somewhat in the background of what seemed to be stories about someone else. Rebels Review #2.18: The Secret of Chopper Base

This was an awesome episode! I believe that in it’s quiet moments it hid several bombshell messages that look forward to the season’s finale next week. On the surface it seems to tell a straight forward adventure story of securing a new base. But actually it was a story of goodbye’s foreshadowing that this was the last time our Star Wars: Rebels family was together like this. This review is full of spoilers, including potential spoilers for the Season’s finale.

Rebels Review #2.13: The Protector of Concord Dawn

After our re-introduction to Leia in Episode 2.12 this Episode was going to re-connect us with some Mandalorian lore and a little of Sabine’s backstory. Sabine’s character needed to take centre stage again as it was only her episode with Hera in Season 1 that stood out for her in terms of character moments. Well, this Episode surely did that!

So how did A Princess on Lothal get us going? It was good! Very Good! This post contains Spoilers!
